Amazing!!
The UH community really is stronger together as we saw on September 1st for our Wahine on the Rise Day of Giving celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Rainbow Wahine athletics!
Thanks to your generosity and that of our UH leaders, alumni and friends, we raised more than $236,000 to support the women of UH Manoa athletics!
And a very big shout out to the Wo Foundation for bringing this effort to life and energizing this inaugural year! This is just the beginning!

50 Years of Rainbow Wahine Athletics
50 Years of Title IX
The Patsy Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act requires any school receiving federal funds to offer equal opportunity without gender discrimination.
Hawai‘i’s Patsy Mink, America’s first Asian American Congresswoman, was Title IX’s author and sponsor. The act was renamed in her honor in 2002.
50 Years of Access, Excellence and Achievement
More women on the fields of play means more women pursuing their academic dreams, and greater opportunity for students, families, and communities.
Wahine athletics began at UH Mānoa in 1972 with volleyball and track & field. Today, 12 women’s teams proudly wear the Green and White for 50 years of countless conference championships, including four this year in volleyball, basketball, golf and water polo.
50 Years is Only the Beginning
Wahine on the Rise commemorates 50 years of achievement with a leap into our next 50 years. This day of giving coincides with the home opener of your Rainbow Wahine Volleyball, Mānoa’s first and most storied women’s program.
Please join us in celebration with a gift to provide continued support for the success of our female student-athletes at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Choose your favorite wahine sport below or support all women's sports with a gift to Wahine on the Rise!
