For high school seniors across the state, exploring college and career options—particularly during challenging economic times—can be incredibly daunting. Getting personalized guidance and support can make all the difference for students as they transition into their post high school plans.
The Next Steps to Your Future program was launched in 2020 to support local high school students in planning for their future. Through the program, eligible students are provided free personalized support and information to guide them in their next steps— whether they plan to enroll in college or enter the military or workforce.
In its first year, the program experienced tremendous success. Over 2,100 students participated. For those who took the free summer class, 78% went on to enroll at one of the University of Hawai‘i campuses.
The University of Hawai‘i Alumni Association (UHAA) Board is excited about the success and potential of this program and is committing $25,000 to establish the UH Alumni Association Next Steps Scholarship Fund! The fund will provide scholarships for Next Steps program participants who enroll in one of the seven (7) UH community colleges in fall 2021.
